General technical regulations for the manufacture and delivery of towers/storage tanks in fibreglass-reinforced plastic

This standard sets out the minimum requirements during the design, manufacture, installation, testing, inspection, marking and delivery of towers/storage tanks in reinforced plastic, which contain liquid or condensed gases that meet the requirements of the EU Directive PED 2014/68/EU. The standard also provides references to national regulations relating to such storage tanks.
The Pressure Equipment Directive – PED, was adopted by the European Parliament in May 2014. The Swedish Work Environment Authority implemented the EU Directive in Sweden on 19 July 2016 in accordance with the regulation [AFS 2016:1].
The National Board of Housing, Building and Planning regulates calculation requirements during the design and manufacture of all permanent storage tanks that are considered to be structures or part of a structure, and hence these requirements are covered by the Planning and Construction Act [Plan och bygglagen (2010:900), PBL]. All calculation and design requirements for storage tanks where the pressure above the surface of the liquid is less than or equal to 0.5 bar come under the National Board of Housing, Building and Planning’s design and manufacturing regulations.
Specific requirements for storage tanks designed for flammable liquids can be found under [MSBFS 2018:3].
The Swedish Environmental Protection Agency's regulations [NFS 2017:5] are applicable to secondary protection in water conservation areas.

Planning permission is not required if the municipality has decided in the implementation plan or the district regulations that exemptions are to apply with regard to the planning permission requirements for storage tanks and other permanent facilities. The owner of the facility must ascertain the local criteria.
Where there are differences between the Swedish version and the English version of this standard, the Swedish version takes precedence.
