General technical requirements for valves

Orientering

This standard is intended for use in the procurement of valves for industrial purposes.

The standard is based on European and Swedish valve standards
and is intended to facilitate procurement, ordering and delivery
by providing additions and explanations to the respective product standards. The standard specifies and clarifies the requirements in the respective valve product standards that are to be met with regard to function, safety, reliability, environment, energy efficiency and documentation.

The standard is intended primarily for purchasers, project managers, designers, contractors and manufacturers.
The standard provides recommendations for describing different valve types using codes. Recommendations for suitable valves based on the selected medium are provided in SSG 7650E – “Piping – recommendations for the selection, classification and inspection of materials and components.”

The standard harmonises with the requirements in SSG’s standards for pipe classes and follows the values for maximum permissible pressure (PS) and temperature (TS) according to the European harmonised flange standard.
