Supersedes earlier edition by SSG 5272E.
These instructions lay down guidelines for the production of system diagrams in process control contexts. The system diagram shall be a common document for operational, project and maintenance personnel for use in illustrating in a graphical form the sequences and relationships in process control.

The system diagram is thus an aid which simplifies fault detection, describes interlock conditions, provides data for application programs for control systems, the training of personnel, etc.
