European edition. These guidelines have been prepared for man-machine communications in supervising, controlling and regulating processes in the paper and pulp industry. This limitation is necessary if conflicts with other display device usage are to be avoided.

Efficient and uniform man-process communications, which permit undesirable operating states to be presented and corrected rapidly, constitute an important factor in optimising process control. These conditions can only be achieved if the presentation is ergonomically adapted to human characteristics and if the information is presented consistently and simply so that any errors which occur can be minimised.

The document presents the basic principles for various types of presentation forms.
