General guidelines for industrial sprinkler systems

This guide provides recommendations and instructions on the design, installation and maintenance of sprinkler systems for industrial facilities. The aim is to create a safe sprinkler system that operates reliably and offers a high degree of availability and low maintenance costs.

This guide is based on best practice for a number of common items of production equipment and types of premises. It serves as a support for the installation or renovation of sprinkler systems. The guide does not apply to offices or staff break rooms.

Sprinkler systems in accordance with SSG 3720 are a supplement to the recommendations set out in EN 12845:2015, FM Global and NFPA (as well as SBF 120, for the Swedish market) in order to provide a process industry perspective on functionality, safety, reliability, environment, energy efficiency and documentation.
