Titel
Risk assessment before using lifting equipment/lifting gear
Orientering
A risk assessment must always be conducted prior to using lifting equipment and lifting gear. Risks must be prevented and deficiencies rectified. Thereafter, it must be verified that the measures have had the desired effect before the lift may be performed.
This standard is based on SSG 2118E Risk Management Template with content adapted for lifting equipment and lifting gear.
•The employer shall ensure that workers operating lifting equipment or lifting devices possess adequate theoretical and practical competence for safe use.
• Ensure that you who will perform the lift have the right training, certificates and permit from the employer.
• Verify that lifting equipment is in good condition with service and inspection completed per applicable procedures.
•The risk assessment must be completed before lifting commences and be approved/signed by those concerned (performer, contact person). In cases where the lift requires coordination, the coordination manager
must give clearance that the work may be performed.
• If any checkpoint question shows NO, the risks must be risk assessed, addressed and risk assessed after the measure before the lift may be performed.
• The risk assessment must be documented, which can be done in a separate tab, and be available until the work is completed. It is recommended to keep the document for some time after completion of the work (check local routines). Checkpoints that are not relevant are marked N/A.
•The risk assessment is reviewed each time the work commences, for example after breaks and meal periods. In case of changes, new signing by all involved is required.
